Kristian Sohlberg to be Reunited with his Mitsubishi Lancer WRC04

We are pleased to announce that as part of our “20 Years of the World Rally Car” celebration we will have Mitsusbishi ex-works driver Kristian Sohlberg in the the extremely rare Mitsubishi Lancer WRC04 to take on the hill climb on Saturday 22nd July 2017.

The Finn, who drove for Mitsubishi in the 2004 World Rally Championship, will be back in the drivers seat of the car for the first time in 13 years (almost to the day) since he last competed as a works driver for Mitsubishi on his WRC home round of Rally Finland. Sohlberg will be working alongside Tristan Bailey and his team at MMR Rallysport ltd, a company founded just this year to make these extremely rare cars available to hire worldwide for any rally or motorsport event.

Taking on Shelsley’s classic course will make 39 year old Sohlberg the first ever driver to take on a hill climb event in a Mitsubishi WRC. The car Kristian will be driving here at Shelsley is the only remaining running example of a Mitsubishi Lancer WRC04 in existence.
