MIRA Sprint Report
Our penultimate Sprint of the season gave us fright when the skies looked ominous halfway through the morning and we did have the odd shower. But it is a track that dries out very quickly and most competitors had at least one dry run. Best time of the day, driving in Class K&L merged, was Peter Goulding in his Mygale with a time of 44.08s.
Other class winners were Mike Edwards in his Mini, David West in his Peugeot 106 Gti, Andrew Cottrill in his very nimble Subaru Impreza, John Palmer (WestfieldSE), Nick Mugglestone sharing a drive with his dad, Darren Balster, David Bickley, Steve Brennan, Stuart Bickley and Christopher Price in his DSP IV. A very happy Philip Stader won the handicap class M1/M2 in the very smart 1968 Alfa Romeo.
This year we moved course control in to a strategically parked land rover and we also relocated the administration and results office into the marquee situated in the paddock. This worked well and was well received by all. The ‘new for this year’, awning has a much more solid/permanent feel to it than the old marquee and we will stick with the same format next year.
Results for the Sunrise Sprint Championship will be issued shortly together with latest championship positions. Just two rounds remain with Curborough and Castle Combe taking place in October.
