Mitsubishi Centenary Tour
2017 saw the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation celebrate its 100th anniversary and, to mark this centenary year, a tour for 50 Mitsubishis registered before 2007 was organised by the UK importer, Mitsubishi Motors in the UK (The Colt Car Company).
The tour started from Mitsubishi Motors in the UK headquarters in Cirencester, where the cars lined up outside of the office complex before drivers and co-drivers signed on and enjoyed breakfast in the Riverside restaurant. The first car was flagged away at 9.30am by Fuzz Townshend and Tim Shaw of Car SOS fame and embarked on the day’s 90-mile route that took entrants through Gloucestershire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire on a variety of roads that had been carefully selected for their scenic and driving appeal.
The route travelled through a backdrop of stunning countryside and wound its way via a variety of picturesque villages, before visiting check points at the quintessential Cotswold jewel of Broadway and heading further north to the historic Shakespearian town of Stratford-upon-Avon.
Entrants then headed west arriving with us at the Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb. A late lunch was served in the Stratstone restaurant before participants were offered the rare opportunity to take two runs up the famous 1,000-yard course. Sadly this was done in the rain, but didn’t deter them from having fun.
The day was rounded off with a presentation of awards by Fuzz and Tim. All entrants also received a finishers award.
