Stanbrook Abbey hosted the Midland Automobile Club’s Annual President’s Dinner and Prize Winners Awards Reception for the second time on Saturday 6th January, with the reception moving to the beautiful Callow Great Hall (the old chapel for the nuns). Lighting was supplied by Nicky Mansfield and her family’s LSE lighting company and created a stunning atmosphere in every room.
Cars were supplied by John Cottrill, Richard Summers, Duncan Andrews and Nigel Elliott, for which we are extremely grateful.
Guest speaker, Mark Higgins, held everybody’s interest when revealing some of the secrets of being a Bond stunt driver (for Daniel Craig) and also revealed how Dame Judy Dench was a wiling and happy passenger. He also holds the 4-wheel record for the fastest lap of the Isle of Man TT circuit with impossible speeds and times.
Finally, everybody retired to the Piano Bar for a glass of port and the after dinner party. Word is that this continued (for some) until 2am while the rest of us were happily tucked up in our excellent hotel rooms and suites.
An excellent evening of entertainment and camaraderie and the venue has been rebooked for next year with the event taking place on 5th January 2019.
