August Breakfast Club
The August Breakfast Club went well at Shelsley with another sunny morning and full house in the paddock with again cars covering all eras, tastes and styles from new Porsches, a Honda NSX to a lowered rat-look Citroen 2CV.
As a little something, there were some prizes for Best Classic, Modern and Presented car on the day with some Autoglym Car Care products up for grabs.
Calvin from Worcester won the Best Presented Car with his Mk 1 Golf GTi that he bought in 1993. Still on the correct original Pirelli alloys it was truly immaculate. “I was 19 when I bought it and I’ve had it all that time. It was in good condition then and I’ve kept it like this since. I’m now really enjoying it on the road so I aim to keep it for another 25 years.”
Nick Young from Ludlow won the Best Classic Car with his Bentley 1953 R Saloon. The engine has been rebuilt and the bodywork done in Germany. “I used to routinely drive from Ludlow to Dusseldorf in this when I was serving in the Army, taking it on the Chunnel straight down to Bavaria. It’s totally reliable and has even stood in when my modern car has failed on me.”
The Best Modern car was a Mercedes AMG GT C Edition 50 of which the winner at Shelsley was number 1 off the production line. It looked very stealthy in matt black.
Thank you again to the crew who get up extra early on these Sundays to make these non motorsport events happen.
