As the race season draws to an end it was finally time for our Member’s to have their turn on the hill at our annual Member’s Day. It was a frosty and wet start to the morning as the drivers and passengers signed on but that didn’t put anyone off and cars were on the start line ready to go by 10.
There was a huge variety of cars that arrived on the day from a range of Westfield’s to a Mercedes AMG and even a couple of motorbikes. Thankfully the sun came out just in time for lunch; some enjoyed a hot meal provided in the Stratstone Restaurant while others opted for a picnic. Before long the paddock was full of activity again and batches continuously ran up the hill. By the end of the day some driver’s had managed to get up to seven runs which is impressive with an entry list of 84 cars.
At the end of the day there was an informal car show a presentation by the Courtyard Bar, the awards were kindly donated by Holden Vintage and Classic. Robin Webb was the judge of the day and presented three lucky winners with an Auto Glym Bodywork and Wheel Set. The winners included Mike Hopkins who won ‘Smiles per mile’ in his MG. Jonathan Bore in his Lotus Elise Sport for ‘Best Classic Sports Car’ and finally Nick Stephens as the winner of ‘Car Judge would most like to take home’ in his Ginetta G4.
It was a great day that was enjoyed by all and a great chance for Member’s to catch up and socialise before the season came to an end. I want to thank everyone who made the day possible, the Marshal’s and volunteers, Richard Weaver, 365, Trefor Cook, Tim Lawson and a special thank you to Brian Sanders who stepped in last minute as event director. Finally thank you to all the Member’s that joined us on the day; we look forward to seeing you next year for another great season!
