March Breakfast Club

Our first Breakfast Club of 2019 took place yesterday with 205 cars of all ages, types and eras filling out the paddock and some of the car park area too. Luckily the rain stayed away for the morning less for five minutes in the middle but after the forecast, we were lucky. Everyday drivers, a E-Type, Lotus Evora, Esprit, Elan, XK140, Subaru Impreza and even a ‘Herbie goes Bananas’ Beetle were all at Shelsley. The queue for the Stratstone Restaurant was alway long with praise for the new choices. Apologies for the wait at time, but this will be sorted next time on Easter Day with some ‘Grab and Go’ options for those who want a quicker pit stop. The Coolest Car Award went to Lee Marshal who drove 107 miles from Oakham in Rutland in his 1965 AC 427 Street Cobra. He won an Autoglym Interior cleaning pack. “I feel like I’ve flown here in a bi-plane.” He said as he got out in his flying jacket. “I used to live twenty miles away but I had to start off my 50th birthday year with one of my bucket list venues to visit. Shelsley Walsh is the home of historic and modern motorsport and coming here today makes me realise why I’ve fallen in love with it.” “I’ve owned the Cobra for five years and it’s been a labour of love over that time but I managed to get to the Goodwood Revival last year while this Breakfast Club is the first event for it this year. I probably won’t clean it for the rest of the year as I like the car to wear its year and age with pride. I don’t want a ‘Show Queen’ of a car.” Lee is now going to take out full membership of the MAC for 2019. The Best Presented Car was driven by Adrian Heath who came from Kidderminster in his 510bhp Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrafoglio. “I thought it was a bit of a wind up when you told me, but I’m very happy to win this Wheel Cleaning pack as I like to keep it clean even as my daily driver. It is a great engine - 3/4 of the Ferrari California engine is under the bonnet - so it is huge fun as you can imagine, but it’s got a bit of Shelsley mud on it now... Might go faster!” The next Breakfast Club is on April 21, Easter Day with a children’s Easter Bunny trail that finishes with them meeting the Easter Bunny. There’s biscuit decorating too for the children so check out our website, reserve your spot and we’ll look forward to seeing you when Spring is truly springing.
