A Wet and Wild Members’ Day
The weather may have been torrential in places, but it definitely wasn’t a washout at Shelsley! We had a fantastic day on the hill as our members brought an eclectic mix of cars and motorbikes out for a run.
The rain was fairly persistent throughout the day, but we still welcomed a great mix of vehicles to the hill, from classic and retro cars to more modern motorbikes and standard road cars. For several members, it was their first Shelsley experience and for others, the day provided the perfect opportunity to test a new vehicle in the wet. We’d like to say a big thank you to our marshals and officials for looking after everyone in less than perfect conditions – they always do a splendid job but their help and support was much appreciated by all who attended.
On the day, we held an informal car show – it was possibly a bit too wet out to compare it to a true Concours d’Elegance, but as we were joined by some top machines, we couldn’t finish the day without handing out a few prizes.
Best Classic Car went to Richard Vining in his Triumph TR3A
Best Modern Car went to Adrian Heath in his Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio
Best Presented (and most colourful!) Car went to Ian ‘Stan’ Matthews in a very orange Lotus Exige
Thank you to all our members who supported Macmillan Coffee Morning as well with their fabulous cakes, offers to help and, of course, purchases! We raised a fantastic £280.22 on Friday, which included a donation from the Dibnahs, who opened the water mill for the occasion.
