Pikes Peak Hill Climb Winner to Drive Shelsley Walsh

Two time winner of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Robin Shute is to debut at Shelsley Walsh on September 19th during the Autumn Speed Finale meeting at the Worcestershire hill. Fresh from winning Pikes Peak this year in his 550bhp Wolf sports car by a stunning 36 second margin, Shute will drive another specialist hill climb car at Shelsley in the shape of a DJ Firehawk fitted with a 1070cc Suzuki GSXR 1000 with a works cylinder head putting out 210 bhp that all up weighs about 315 kg. It is a ‘return’ to DJ Racecars for Shute as he used DJ designed and made wings on his Pikes Peak car that he took to glory in June this year. For the Brit now based in California, it’s a return and something new at the same time. “It’s very good to finally come to Shelsley Walsh. As a youngster I went regularly to watch my Father compete but I have yet to actually drive the hill itself but it’s a very different challenge with the tighter, narrower course compared to the wide open road that is Pikes Peak but it’ll be great to finally have that feeling of sitting on the line at such a famous place.” “Thank you to all the team at Shelsley Walsh for helping this all happen and to the Summers family for the chance to drive such a specialist hill climb car too. I’m very privileged and lucky to drive something so different. I genuinely cannot wait.” Shute is a professional racing driver in the USA specialising in both Prototype and Formula cars with a proven international track record in Hill Climb, Sprint and Endurance racing. He also uses his engineering prowess to develop cars and race programs for several OEMs and race car manufacturers providing a unique, world class skillset of driving and engineering not usually seen in the motorsports industry.
The Autumn Speed Finale at Shelsley Walsh is the final competitive weekend of the 2021 season and will be held over the weekend of 18th and 19th September with track action starting at 9am each morning for practice and then the timed runs for the all important class wins after lunch.
