SOCIAL EVENTS

The Midland Automobile Club has a very strong and active social section, organising talks, factory tours, museum and garden visits, film shows, barbecues mid week lunches and treasure hunts.

Taking place throughout the year either at the Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb or at other venues, we always try and put on an event that caters for everyone’s interests. Members of the club are encouraged to put forward their ideas.

Some of the social events that we have organised have included trips to the Williams F1 Heritage Collection, Prodrive, JCB, BloodHound SSC, Highgrove Gardens, Morgan Motor Company, Jaguar Cars, talks from Whizzo Williams, Philip Serrell, David Franklin, Matt Neal, plus fashion and packing tips from Catherine Clark Hats and Capsule In A Case and even a Ghost Walk!

The introduction of Black Plate Wednesday in the summer of 2016 proved a great success and provided an opportunity for members and non-members to bring their ‘black plate’ (i.e. pre 1973) cars to Shelsley Walsh to form a lovely display and then enjoy an afternoon tea in the Courtyard. We are pleased to say that we will be holding 3 Black Plate Wednesday events in 2018.

If you have any ideas for events you would like to see the club hold, please email social@mac1901.co.uk

MEMBERS DAY

The Members’ Day is a great opportunity to experience the hill in a relaxed, controlled and fun atmosphere. We welcome you to drive your own road-legal car, up the famous Shelsley Walsh track, during a day full of non-competitive runs. We allow any road-legal cars to participate, from specialist kit cars and classic sports cars to everyday standard saloons.

Members are encouraged to invite guests to part-take in the event. We also allow passengers to join in, at an additional cost of £5. The passengers can car hop (with permission from the driver) allowing them to experience the hill in a range of cars.

The restaurant will be open from 8am-5pm with breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea tickets available to purchase in advance. There will also be other refreshments available to purchase on the day. Alternatively, feel free to set up your ‘camp’ in your paddock shed and enjoy a picnic.

After the day’s driving, there will be an informal car show in the paddock from 5pm where members can bring along their cars to show for free. All varieties of cars are welcome and they are not expected to be of concours standard! There will be various prizes awarded. The Courtyard Bar will be open from 4pm until 5pm allowing you to socialise with old and new friends that you made throughout the day or year!
